Art Wednesday has Never Been So Decadent and Delicious

It has been a crazy day. Bean started out doing some artwork out of my What Your Preschooler Needs to Know book – with lots of paint and colors to keep him occupied while I got a turkey into the oven. Most of the time, Scott does the cooking around here. It’s safer that way. But today he had 5 estimates, and so he asked me to try that Paper Bag method for cooking a turkey that even a novice can handle.

Then Bean and I picked up Ben for his early release day at school, and we headed over to Lillie Belle Farms Handmade Chocolates. We wanted to see Art made of chocolate. Wow – do they have some beautiful things.

We got some of the Chocolates of the Day – Pop Rocks in Chocolate – the boys couldn’t stop laughing at the little explosions in their mouths. I took a sample bite, and jumped because it really did bite back, or bite first, depending on how you look at it.

Another Chocolate of the Day was the Peanut Butter and Jelly. It was like they knew we were coming. So perfect for my boys. Of course, I had one of the more grown-up, divine, need-a-moment-to-savor, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups that literally can make your eyes go back in your head and want to pass out, it’s so good.

This fine chocolate maker has won all sorts of awards, and like my boys, enjoys playing with his food. He is the inventor of the Zombie Bunnies (for an irreverent Easter treat – they aren’t even pictures on the website -I guess you just have to be in-the-know). One of his current specialties is the “Do Not Eat This Chocolate – An Award Winning, Tongue Searing, Chile and Chocolate Explosion – You Have Been Warned.” Such a fun guy. We had a lot of fun in his shop.

Then for dinner tonight, we had a huge Midweek Thanksgiving Dinner for No Real Reason, other than that we are incredibly grateful, with a delicious turkey, (if I do say so myself), mashed potatoes, gravy that my husband made from the drippings – and Oh – it was glorious, green beans, carrots with brown sugar, dressing that my boys couldn’t stop raving about (the one boxed item on the table). It was tremendous, and filling, and we should all go to bed now.
